This stretch of Westmoreland coast is as laid-back and "country" as Jamaica gets, with excellent accommodation options and plenty of seafood. Bluefields public beach has more locals on it than tourists, with shacks selling fried fish, beer, and the ubiquitous herb. The windfall of jobs and revenue that Butch Stewart and the Jamaican government were to bring to the area from the opening of another monstrous all-inclusive resort, Sandals Whitehouse, has hardly materialized, as the guests are not encouraged to venture off the compound and rarely do so.
