Jamaicans who walk around Kingston generally don’t do so by choice, day or night, and are ridiculed as “walk foots” by their fellow citizens. It’s mainly due to the prestige of driving, and more importantly, the heat that pedestrians suffer; the safety concerns around Town are generally exaggerated and vehicles stopped at lights offer little protection, anyway.
